TV

There are not many television shows that can claim to have influence over several generations yet my favourite show from the 90s, I think you will all know, is of course Friends! The American sitcom which aired between 1994-2004 followed the lives of the six twenty somethings, who didn’t even have a “pl” let alone a plan. Everyone always has their favourite character, whether it is Chandler’s sarcasm, Phoebe’s weirdness, Ross’s nerdy side, Rachel’s gossiping, Joey’s sweetness, or Monica’s competitiveness, you can always relate to one. Personally mine is Chandler, and I certainly was not at all jealous when…

If you’re looking for the perfect time to go skiing, February is probably your best bet. This is one of the best months as it is nowhere near as cold as January,  yet still chilly enough to enjoy a hot chocolate. If you don’t take to the cold too well however, wait until March and you can actually sunbathe whilst skiing. Flying into Innsbruck, Austria is quite spectacular, weaving through huge, stunning mountains, the glistening snow, and rocky peaks look close enough to touch. Vienna, an unusual city. Full of grandeur and tradition with modernity melding from every vicinage. I remember thinking – after I dived into Cafe Phil escaping a snow storm, sat on reclaimed art-deco furniture, surrounded by an array of literature, jazz and gentle tapping on laptops – that it’s my favourite cafe in Vienna. Vivienne Westwood, a Dame in the fashion world, and one of my all time favourite designers, has recently released her new show ‘Mirror the World’ as part of her Gold Label collection. Her inspiration is the magnificent city of Venice, and saving this ‘emporium of culture’ (and of course everything else) from climate change. Yet I must admit, I am a little unsure as to how global warming immediately connects to her designs, but in her pre-show film she mentioned an idea that struck me, that to be as beautiful as the world, one must engage with the world. The…

This summer was awesomely insane. Can you imagine eating curry 3 times a day for 12 weeks with your hands? Or riding buses with no windows or doors? Have you ever tried walking in a Sari? I got dressed up to go to a wedding ceremony at 6am but spent most of the time wondering how women did their day-to-day activities like hand washing and cooking in a Sari when I was struggling to just walk. India is unlike any other place I have been. I went out to Tamil Nadu with Restless Development for 3 months as part of…
