This year the landlord blacklist, which has been crucial to students of previous years, has been removed from the Bangor website. It seems that instead of condemning landlords for their insufficient houses and poor reputations there has been more of a focus on the ‘good’ landlords. Today was the launch of Bangor Landlord Awards 2014 which has contributed to this new positive attitude towards housing. Having worked in Bangor now for two years, I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people and form some close friendships with people from the area. I understand that I am very fortunate to have had this experience considering the low employment opportunities available in Bangor at the moment. These kinds of friendships are crucial in maintaining a healthy relationship with the local community, as it is important for us to acknowledge some of the frustrations that we as students can cause. This year however, we seem to have calmed down slightly; I’m…

You will more than likely at some stage be snuggled up in your awkward three quarter beds wishing your parents were there to provide you with paracetamol and TLC. However, for the first time, you won’t have that comfort and it’s not a nice ride. So do yourselves a favour…

The students were approached by security in what they described as homophobic related incidents. A 19-year-old music student said she was approached whilst kissing another female. She was told to stop what she was doing as it wasn’t allowed. The same student also witnessed a homosexual friend, on a separate occasion, being told directly by a bouncer to “Leave before something was done about it.” “I was told stop or you’ll have to leave” said Amelia Anderson, a Bangor…
