Bangor Karate Union had a fab 2018/19! From welcoming around 40 new students at Serendipity, including both novices and those with a background in karate and martial arts. Our standard weekly training sessions, paired with more intense competition training (for those that want to) lead to us participating in 8 competitions (including BUCS and Varsity), where we obtained an astonishing 12 gold, 11 silver and 15 bronze medals! We have also held our own (slightly more relaxed) in-house competitions where our members of all abilities and grades could compete against and alongside each other to build confidence and technique! We held three grading sessions in the last year, and over 30 members managed to progress to their next grade! We’re not all work though, in the last year we have participated in a number of events both within the university and externally with the Bangor community, including fundraising for charity, active sports sessions for staff and numerous awareness campaigns. We look forward to welcoming more members this year of all abilities and continuing our successes whilst maintaining a fun and inclusive atmosphere. Our taster session is open to all on Saturday 21st September at 12noon at Normal Site Gym 2. If you would like to know more about the Bangor Karate Union then come and see us at serendipity or join our Facebook group. We look forward to welcoming you to the karate family.
