Hockey
Although the summer is a quiet time for the ladies at BUHC last year was very different. Between matches, socials and fundraising the club has constantly had something going on. This year all our teams enjoyed success with the firsts finishing second in their BUCS league and the thirds improving their goal difference as well as our girls having a successful varsity beating Aberyswth 3-0. Not only have our teams had success but our very own Katherine Oliver was selected to play for the Wales side in the university home nations tournament and Clare Barwood umpiring her first international match this year. This year we have also been busy with our fundraising activities in which we ran a fantastic Movember Tri Tournament and hosted a night in Academi where all our girls went above and beyond. Last year Women’s hockey also dodged, ducked and dived their way into getting the Spirit of the AU award through our enthusiastic participation in other clubs fundraisers even if our performance showed that we probably should just stick to hockey. Outside hockey we have also had our fair share of fun on a Wednesday night with huge turn outs to all our socials letting us to get to know all our new recruits and some familiar faces. This coming year we hope to continue our great year with an even better one so if you’ve been playing since you could walk or have never picked up a stick before come on down to our taster session on Thursday 19th at 1pm on the astro at Ffriddoed site and join one of the best clubs of the AU!
