New home for Bangor’s old treasures Bangor’s Museum has received £1.4m in lottery funding in order to fund its upcoming relocation and renovation. The city centre’s museum, originally built in 1884, will move to Bangor’s Bishop’s Palace, opposite the forthcoming Pontio building. The building, which dates from the 16th century, is the second oldest in Bangor behind the cathedral and is intended to act as a hub for the people of Gwynedd as well as an art gallery and historical museum. North Wales Police are currently appealing for any information regarding a fire which has killed a mother and three children in a first floor flat in Prestatyn. Charlie Timbrell, 15 months, became the fourth victim of the fire, dying of his injuries at Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Hospital on Sunday the 21st October. His mother Lee-Anna Shiers, 20 and cousins Bailey Allen, four, and two year-old Skye Allen were pronounced dead at the scene of the blaze in the Maes y Groes area of the Denbighshire seaside town.
