Marc Webb’s latest instalment in the Spiderman reboot’s franchise, The Amazing Spiderman 2, is ticking all the boxes of the Hollywood blockbuster but it’s in no way a superhero movie at its best. Following on from the 2012 hit, Spidey 2 sees Andrew Garfield return as the spandex-wearing web-slinger and his normal guy counterpart, Peter Parker, burdened with great responsibility and haunted by visions of girlfriend, Gwen Stacey’s (Emma Stone), Dad who we last saw dying to save the hero. In all honesty I cannot remember who or what the bad guy was in Garfield’s first outing as the popular…

This weekend Bangor’s Sailing Club welcomed Aber for a weekend of racing. In both fleets we managed to take 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall with both the winners getting a clean sweep of wins. On the Saturday we were greeted to 20 to 25 knot winds blowing over the straights and so for some, staying upright became the priority. We still managed to run two races however and Bangor finished day 1 on top! On Sunday, after an epic cowboys vs indians social, we got back out on the water to finish the race series, followed by a sail…

When it first surfaced that Amy Hennig had left Naughty Dog, earlier this month, I couldn’t quite believe it. My favourite writer, of my favourite game leaving my favourite games company. It was upsetting news, certainly with Uncharted 4 on the horizon; what was to be the future of Nathan Drake? And then came the rumours that Amy had been forced out by fellow Naughty Dog directors, and duo behind the Last of Us, Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann. Naughty Dog has of course denied the rumours with co-Presidents, Evan Wells and Christoph Balestra, releasing a statement which wishes Amy…

The race is on for Champion’s League and European glory in the Welsh Premier League. As it stands Bangor City sit in third place, a fraction above Rhyl who have a game in hand. It’s been a difficult start to the second phase of the season for the Citizens with a difficult run of games which has seen them play TNS and come up against Airbus a number of times (in both the league and cup matches). The January transfer window saw a few new additions to the team with the likes of Gerwyn Jones and Jay Colbeck. The former…

Bangor City 2 – 4 Airbus Broughton Tuesday, 25th February Attendance: 341 It was a disappointing Tuesday evening for Bangor City as top flight Airbus beat the home side for the third consecutive time. The match, which had already been rearranged due to bad weather, saw Bangor up against the Wingmakers once again following their Welsh Cup defeat earlier this month. The home team began the game positively with some early chances on goal thanks to Sion Edwards on the left wing but they couldn’t quite find their target past keeper Coates. City’s early efforts however uplifted the crowd on a cold…

We’ve come a long way since the events of The Avengers. We’ve seen the effects the Battle of New York have had on billionaire superhero Tony Stark and we’ve seen the God of Thunder, Thor, try to forgive his tyrant brother Loki for his actions. This April, however, it’s time for the First Avenger to step up and defend his newfound home from yet another threat. The Winter Soldier marks Chris Evan’s third (technically fourth) outing in that star-spangled suit and the Cap’s second solo movie. The movie is set for release on 4th April and follows Steve Rogers’ struggle…

From the release of the original Metal Gear over 25 years ago, the Metal Gear series has enthralled gamers worldwide – and once it evolved into 3D form and landed on the original PlayStation in 1998, the series led a new generation gamers through a vast and often confusing universe of twists, turns and lengthy, pontificating cutscenes. 2008’s Metal Gear Solid 4, however, represented the end point for the series…or so we thought. After a decent-but-not-great hack-and-slash spin-off (Metal Gear Rising), and a reasonably good PSP title (Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker), the twisted genius of series creator Hideo Kojima…

In an industry where the vampire stock price has exploded in recent years it is not surprising to see yet another supernatural tv show hit our screens. Syfy’s new show Bitten, however, tosses vampires aside, to finally give us a breath of fresh air, in favour of werewolves. The show introduces to Elena Michaels (Laura Vandervoort), a Toronto photographer, who lives a seemingly perfect life along with her marketing mogul boyfriend, Philip McAdams (Paul Greene.) But in TV land things are never quite as they seem, are they? Between shooting photos and lunching with Philip’s sister, Elena must hide…
